Alimed Dynamic Digit Finger Extensor Tube is the better way to reduce PIP and DIP joint finger flexion contractures. This curved, banana-shaped, neoprene tube locates a 30 degree reverse angle under the PIP joint to simulate a spring-like mechanism. It distributes lift along the entire volar surface of the digit. This lift, combined with a constrictive factor at the distal end of the digit, eliminates the harmful pressure commonly experienced with other forms of extension splinting.

Benefits of Dynamic Digit Finger Extensor Tube

  • Fights edema
    - Unlike traditional spring and jack-like devices, tube fits snugly around the digit, delivering warmth to help relax tight tendinous structures and remodel scar tissue
    - Circumferential pressure aids in restricting fluid to assist in edema reduction
  • Trim to length
    - The splint is mildly flexible, maintaining joint mobility and some functional use of the digit
    - Can be easily trimmed to length and contoured to fit the web space
  • Easy application
    - Fabric interior makes the tube easy to slip on and adds durability
    - Rubber exterior provides a grip surface to aid in application as well as a functional grip surface during daily activities
  • No pressure points
    - Tube may be worn for longer periods of time compared to other extension splints, due to its gentle force and distribution of pressure over a large area
  • Clinically proven:
    - Clinical tests have demonstrated superior performance compared to other extension devices, even showing success in digits that were unsuccessfully treated by other clinical means
  • Suitable for flexion contractures up to 80 degrees
  • Provides gentle, even force without splint shifting, misalignment or irritation
  • Effective without being tight
  • Ideal for use with acute injuries and post-surgical repairs of the PIP joints
  • Ideal to offset the PIP flexion in spinal cord injuries C7 or higher
  • For size, measure circumference of the PIP joint
  • Easy to put on
  • Note: This product contains natural rubber latex which may cause allergic reactions.

More Information

  • Principal Use: Reduce PIP joint flexion contractures associated with acute injuries (such as sports injury sprains or postsurgical repair of the PIP joint).
  • Secondary Use: Offset constant positioning of fingers in PIP flexion as seen in spinal cord injury at the level of C7 or higher.
  • Primary Diagnostic Group: Patients with post-acute injury to the hand when a flexion contracture has formed at the PIP joint.
