Hello and Welcome!

I am Ashima. My name is an Indian name which means infinite. And I truly believe in infinity in so many ways.
Like our body! It has an infinite capacity to heal itself if we just give it the right food.

I don’t even remember when I started to learn about food as medicine. Maybe it was when my grandma told me to swallow some carom seeds for a stomach ache, or when my mom squeezed fresh aloe vera gel out of a leaf and applied it on my sister’s pimple or maybe much earlier when they were both massaging my infant body with coconut oil. Every culture and every family has its own home remedies that have been passed on from generation to generation. But somewhere our urban, fast-paced lifestyles have given priority to modern medicine than to traditional wisdom, often disregarded as folklore.

Last year, after a serious episode of sinusitis and vertigo, both me and my husband embarked on a journey of re-discovering food — food that is the medicine. After 35 years of modern medicines, we were done. The choice was either to take medicines for life long or reclaim our health through nature cures. And we chose nature. Just by natural remedies and changes in food habits we were able to reclaim our health and get rid of so many common ailments for good — like cold, fever, acidity, indigestion, constipation, sinusitis and obesity. It was almost like discovering a new person inside our bodies.

In our journey we came in contact with many who have done so and are now helping others through nature cures. Not only did I learn about food, I also learned so much about healthy cooking. Cooking is my passion and I believe we can all cook a simple healthy meal no matter how busy we are. I have been blogging about my cooking adventures since long at My Weekend Kitchen.

The tips and recipes that I share here, have been tried and tested. I believe the only way I can thank the people who have handed them down to me is by passing them forward. I really do hope that you find them helpful and if you need to connect with me, just drop me a message at my blog.
